Meeting with State Representative John Paul Temple’s Legislative Aide

Representative John Temple is the state house representative for District 52 which encompasses all of Sumter County. On May 22, his legislative aide Dorothy Dilworth met with a group of parents from The Villages to discuss concerns regarding the insufficient funding for Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) to deliver services to consumers. The discussion included three main concerns: seeing that allocated funds be used to reduce the extensive wait for services, the difficulties communicating with APD due to staff shortages, and the long delays from the Governor’s office in appointing members to the Family Care Council.

Dorothy Dilworth agreed to take our concerns to Representative Temple. She strongly advised that individuals relate personal stories rather than form letters to express needs through emails and letters to Temple and other officials in order to make the biggest impact.
