Advancing Families and Individuals Needing Services (AFINS) hosted a workshop on April 11, 2025, at the Sumter County Annex. Mr. Giovanni Santi, a Supportive Living Coach (SLC) and owner of Gentle Sunrise, a business providing personal training, professional home care, health advocacy, and mobility services, spoke at the event.
During the workshop, Giovanni discussed the role of a Supportive Living Coach, particularly in relation to the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) iBudget Waiver. Supported Living is a residential service for adults with developmental disabilities that helps them live independently and be part of their communities. This category includes Supported Living Coaching and/or Personal Supports.
Giovanni explained the responsibilities of an SLC and the challenges of managing a residence. He emphasized the importance of informed consumer and family choices when working with an SLC to ensure optimal care. The session concluded with a Question and Answer session.
