The United States is divided into 435 congressional districts, each with a population of about 710,000 individuals. Each district elects a representative to the U.S. House of Representatives for a two-year term. Representatives are also called congressmen/congresswomen. There are two congressmen representing The Villages, Florida. – Lake, Marion and Sumter counties.
Congressman Daniel Webster represents Florida, District 11, which includes The Villages in both Marion and Sumter Counties. In Florida each electoral district is represented by a single officeholder in the Florida Senate and the Florida House of Representatives. Florida Senators are elected to four-year terms. Florida Representatives are elected to two-year terms. Both positions are subject to the party nomination process.
